A Warm Welcome for Newborns

After learning that there could be serious complications with her pregnancy, Mallory Tooliatos spent 51 days in John Muir Health’s antepartum unit before safely delivering Saydee Jane on April 17, 2017.  Arriving at 5 pounds, 8 ounces, Saydee was immediately place in a Panda® Warmer bed and transferred from the Birth Center to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in her warm, safe bed attached to the NICU Shuttle.

The Panda® Warmer bed provides a consistently warm, regulated central location where babies can sleep, be changed and examined, from moments after birth, then right at mom’s bedside. The small bed also includes a weight scale, heart rate monitor, backup oxygen in case of emergency resuscitation, and is completely mobile.

In those first moments, Saydee’s dad, Mike, greatly appreciated the portability of the Panda® Warmer bed.  “I was able to walk with the nurses when they took Saydee to the NICU right in her bed.  I couldn’t take my eyes off her.  She was perfect.”
