Richard M. Ira is a non-practicing attorney who uses his extensive experience in trust services, wealth management, and non-profit organizations to assist individuals as they consider their estate planning and wealth management options, including choice of trustee. As a Sr. VP at Mechanics Bank, Ira provided leadership in establishing the bank’s presence as a premier provider of wealth management and banking services in Northern California.

In this role, he advises individuals, families, family offices, and other select institutions on how BNY Mellon Wealth Management can help them reach their financial goals. David joined the firm in 2019 and has more than 25 years of experience in the investment and financial services industry. Previously, he was an Executive Director at JP Morgan Private Bank.

David holds a Bachelor of Science in Humanities and International Affairs from Georgetown University and an MBA, Finance and Entrepreneurial Management, from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. He is a veteran of the United States Navy, having served on active duty for six years as a Surface Warfare Officer. He currently resides in Alamo, CA with his wife, Sheila, and their three sons, Wade, Blake, and Luke.

He is also very active in the nonprofit community serving on various boards and committees, including The Salvation of San Francisco, Advisory Board (and former Chair), the Northern California Planned Giving Council (former Board Member), and the Finance and Development Committees at St. Anthony Foundation.
